Calavera, Angie

Linoleum Block Printing.

about this piece.
I really love linoleum block printing. I actually used to do it quite a bit before Lucy died. Really, when I started painting, I stopped block printing. This month, I took part in a Day of the Dead Artist Trading Card (ATC) swap and decided to try my hand at block printing again. I love the process--sketching, tracing, transferring, cutting, inking, printing. After I printed this run on different color papers, I then decorated them with markers like they were sugar skulls. I like that they are all the same and all different. I really used this calavera to show where I am right now in my grief, still sad, one tear, and a head full of love.  -Angie

  2. Great idea... cards turned out superlovely. I adore mine and it has already found a spot in my living room. Even though i would rather take it on the road with me, (so I can adore it some more) - but I'd be too bummed loosing it, so it better stays at home.

Glad you reactivated your block printing skills. xo
