about this piece.
This picture was taken on our Hawaiian holiday, six months after we lost Hope. It is the holiday you take when you don't get to take your baby home. Pretty shitty consolation prize. Though she isn't with us physically, we feel she is never far away, as evidenced by these footprints between us on the beach in Waikiki one night. -Sally

  1. Great photo.

I agree, it is a pretty shitty consolation prize... I took a mini-holiday after my second and third miscarriage, while it was nice to get away from everything, good to spend time alone with my husband, the reason we were there to begin with sucked.

    Thank you for sharing this.

  2. What a powerful photo. The angle gives me a strange sense of vertigo. Wow. Makes me feel turbulent... if that makes sense at all. Sick from the dizziness and grief.

  3. I know all about that shitty consolation prize. I'd trade a million beach vacations for a day with Dylan. Beautiful picture!

  4. I have goosebumps looking at this Sally. I wish you hadn't needed the vacation, I so wish that.
