100 Days, Betty

100 Days
For my beautiful baby girl, Shealyn

by Betty

100 days
100 beautiful sun rises and sun sets.
Are they prettier from Heaven?
2,400 hours
Seems like forever
144,000 minutes
Feels like just yesterday
8,640,000 seconds……tick……..tock.
And not one of them forgotten.
I miss you baby girl.
I think of you, every day, every hour, every minute, every second.

about this piece.
In honor of today, the 100th day of still life 365, Betty suggested this poem. She wrote this piece 100 days after the birth and death of her daughter, Shealyn.

about the poet.
Betty and her husband went through a year's worth of fertility treatments in 2008. As Betty describes her journey, "In December of that year, we went in for our final IUI. Two weeks later we found out we were pregnant with our first child. In May of 2009, at almost 23 weeks, my body decided it was time and my water broke due to an infection. Shealyn was born on May 17, 2009 at 12:39 AM weighing 1 pound even and 11 1/2 in long." Betty writes about her life and journey at Random Thoughts at 65 MPH.
