about the piece.
Amy describes her painting, "I made this painting sometime in 2008 I think, or maybe early 2009. It was soon after we decided to try to conceive (ttc) again and I felt a burning Hope inside of me. I let myself believe in that Hope, that we could and would become pregnant. The vines growing up her back show the both the pain and growth of ttc again after suffering through the loss of a baby. This painting stirs up mixed emotions in me now since we have not become pregnant and apparently suffer from unexplained secondary infertility."

about the artist.
Amy lives in North Carolina with her husband and two greyhounds. Amy describes her journey, "Our only child Liam was born alive and apparently healthy on September 25, 2007, and was the joy of our lives. Our son Liam died soon after birth due to unexplained/unknown causes, shattering our world and our hearts. Art is an expression and release of my grief, and a way to honor the memory of our little man who is missed beyond words."

  1. This piece touches me. One being that I too suffered from secondary fertility following our loss and I see perfectly the burning hope in this painting. But also because, our second rainbow baby was born the same day as baby Liam.

  2. A beautiful painting which like Empty a few days ago really communicates something to me about my wife's journey. Thank you for sharing it

After Abigail died we have been told we cannot have another baby. So I think we know this pain of not being able to have a rainbow baby. (Hence my recipe contribution the other day).

But I wouldn't compare to your pain really. We have a 5 year old son and he is such a blessing. My heart goes out to you! It really does
